General description
The Portuguese path since Porto is one of the most popular Jacobean routes after the French road. This route begins in the historic city of Porto, famous for its wines and its architecture, and travels beautiful landscapes of northern Portugal until reaching Spain and finally to Santiago de Compostela.
Throughout this path, you will cross picturesque medieval villages such as Ponte de Lima, the oldest village in Portugal, and historical cities such as Barcelos, famous for its legend of the rooster.
The tour takes you through vineyards, eucalyptus and pine forests, and traditional cultivation fields, while crossing ancient Roman and medieval bridges that have served pilgrims for centuries.
Upon arriving at Tui, you will cross the Miño River by the International Bridge, marking the entrance to Spain, where the road continues by Galicia until reaching Santiago de Compostela.
This route combines history, culture, gastronomy and spirituality, offering a unique experience for both pilgrims and travelers who seek to know the essence of northern Portugal and Galicia.
